Grinham overcame Phoebe Paterson Pine, her colleague who took home the gold in Tokyo, en route to the bronze.
31-year-old Jodie Grinham was born on July 26, 1993. Jodieโs Grinham’s left arm was short, devoid of digits, and her left hand only had half a thumb. Since she was the first person with this kind of impairment to try archery, Grinham and her father Symon devised a creative method to help her hold her bow without violating the archer’s prohibition against having the bow attached to oneself.
The Crawley-based archer, originally born in Haverford West in Wales, has a condition called Brachysyndactyly which has left her with a shortened left arm.
She was a student at London’s Waterloo BPP Law School.
With her partner Christopher Greenan, she raises a 2-year-old son named Christian.
