Age 19 Pallavi Reddy, a second year B.Tech computer electronics engineering student who was originally from Andhra Pradesh, was found hanging from the hostel room’s ceiling fan. A s*icide note was discovered at the scene.

As per reports, the body has been sent for post-mortem, and her family in Andhra Pradesh has been informed about the tragic incident.

Reportedly, the Patna Police are collecting all the necessary scientific evidence, and an investigation in the case is ongoing to determine the exact cause behind the tragic incident.

What Did the Police Say?

As per a statement released by Patna Police, they received a call about the tragic incident on Friday at around 10:15 p.m. The officials were informed that, “a female student had taken her own life by hanging in her hostel room.”

As per the authorities, they arrived at the scene after receiving a call about the incident and took Pallavi Reddy to a nearby government hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

In the wake of the tragic s*icide incident, the students at the NIT, Patna, have led a widespread protest on the campus as they are voicing their anger at the administration.

Pallavi Reddy, who was a second-year B.Tech student, had recently been relocated to the under-construction Bihta campus alongside two-hundred girls.

The protesting students have raised their concern about the inadequate facilities at the campus, alleging that women were moved to the hostel despite its unfinished state.

The protest erupted on both the Bihta and Patna campuses with students holding placards and chanting slogans against the NIT administration.

After receiving a call about the student’s protest, reportedly, Patna Police reached the NIT campus and attempted to convince the students to go back, however, they reportedly continued to protest till late at night.
