Pallavi Dempo’s candidacy marks a historic moment for the BJP in Goa, highlighting the party’s endeavor to diversify its electoral representation and appeal to a broader demographic.
Currently, Congress leader Francisco Sardinha holds the South Goa seat, historically a stronghold with limited success for the BJP, which has only clinched victory twice since 1962. Adding to the Dempo family’s prominence is Shrinivas Dempo, husband of Pallavi Dempo, a notable industrialist who heads the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI).
