She made this surprising choice because she wants to live her life in accordance with Islam, her religion. During her interaction with PCB representatives, Ayesha emphasized her desire to commit herself totally to her religious convictions by saying,

“I’m leaving cricket and want to live my life according to Islam.”

Who is Ayesha Naseem?

Ayesha Naseem is a former Pakistani cricketer. She has been in the news because she took a shocking retirement from cricket at the young age of 18.

She was born on 7 August 2004 in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

Presently, she is 18 years old and is a Muslim by religion. She is unmarried and single.

Her career

Ayesha Naseem started her international cricket career just three years ago, in 2020. She was chosen to play for Pakistan in the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in January 2020 at the age of 15. On 3 March 2020, she played in her first Women’s Twenty20 International match for Pakistan.

She was included in the Pakistani team for the South Africa series in December 2020. She was named to the 2020 PCB Awards shortlist for Women’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year later that month.

Ayesha Naseem was selected to play for Pakistan in a series against the West Indies in June 2021. On 12 July 2021, against the West Indies, she played in her first Women’s One Day International. She was selected to play for Pakistan in the cricket competition at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, in May 2022.
