During his first tenure as the club’s manager, he led Chennaiyin to the ISL championship game and to eight victories in the competition before falling to ATK 3-1. After that, Coyle joined Jamshedpur FC in 2020, and in his second season, the squad won the ISL League Winners Shield. Coyle won’t be allowed to join the team until August due to contractual obligations with his present club Queens Park FC in the Scottish second level.

Who is Owen Coyle?
Football manager and former player Owen Columba Coyle was born on July 14, 1966. He is now Chennaiyin’s head coach in the Indian Super League. He earned one appearance for the Republic of Ireland national team while playing as a striker for numerous clubs in England and Scotland.
The 57-year-old Coyle started his playing career with Dumbarton and later played for Clydebank and Airdrieonians before transferring to Bolton Wanderers of England in 1993. Before returning to Scotland with Dundee United, he made a Premier League appearance for Bolton. He then played for a number of other Scottish teams, including Falkirk, Motherwell, Dunfermline Athletic, and St. Johnstone. He played for the Republic of Ireland under-21s and B team before making one full international appearance in 1994, qualifying by descent.
After his playing career ended, Coyle served as manager of Falkirk and St. Johnstone before joining Burnley in November 2007. Burnley was promoted to the Premier League in 2009 during his first full season in charge.
After that, he transferred to Bolton Wanderers in January 2010, midway through his first Premier League campaign. Coyle was appointed manager of Wigan Athletic in June 2013 after leaving Bolton in October 2012, but he left the club six months later.
In December 2014, he was appointed the Houston Dynamo’s head coach, a post he held until his mutual resignation in May 2016. He then managed Blackburn Rovers from June 2016 to February 2017. He returned to Scotland in September 2017 to manage Ross County, although he resigned this position after only five months.
Coyle had a successful and protracted playing career as a striker. In addition to the English Premier League, he also played for Motherwell and Dundee United in the Scottish Premier League. In total, he has scored more than 300 goals.
