Earlier this year, Bilal Khan, became the first and only bowler from the 96 ICC Associate nations to achieve the 100-wicket mark in T20 internationals.

Bilal Khan bio

Bilal Khan is a Pakistani-born cricketer who was born on April 10, 1987, in Peshawar, Pakistan. Despite being born in Pakistan, Bilala moved to Oman in 2011 and he has since played for the Oman national cricket team since 2015. Bilal primarily plays as a left-arm fast bowler and most notably represented Oman at the 2016 and 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cups.

Bilal’s pace is a couple of notches under express but his sharp inswing can be a handful for batsman with him capable of persistenly bowling in the 130-135 kmph range.

Bilal Khan is currently 37 years old and stands at a height of 5 ft 9 in (1.75 m).

Despite being born in Pakistan, Bilal Khan is an Omani by nationality.

Bilal Khan career

Bilal started out his cricketing journey in Pakistan, where he played first-class cricket for Peshawar from 2007 to 2009. He later qualified to play for Oman in 2015 after spending four years of residency there. He eventually made his Twenty20 International debut for Oman during a match against Hong Kong on November 21, 2015.

On January 2018, Bilal qualified for Oman’s squad for the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament. He then made his List A debut for Oman the following month, on February 8, 2018. That same year, in August, Bilal made the Oman squad for the 2018 Asia Cup Qualifier tournament.

He also played for Oman in the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Three tournament, where he finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker. In December of that same year, Bilal played for Oman in the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The veteran cricketer finally made his ODI debut for Oman on April 27, 2019, during a match against Namibia.

Bilala Khan slowly gained prominence in the squad and got named for the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament as well as for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. During that tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) named him as the key player in Oman’s team. More recently, in May 2024, Bilal was named in Oman’s squad for the ongoing 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tournament, where he is currently leading the pack.

Bilal Khan has played 63 matches to date in his T20 career and has taken 89 wickets, with an average of 17.35, conceding nearly 6.81 runs per over.
