Career

Finney’s professional football career began with Crewe’s academy before he joined Nantwich Town on loan in 2016. He returned to Crewe in 2017, making 99 appearances and scoring 14 goals for the club. In January 2023, Finney signed a permanent deal with Hartlepool United.

Born on December 15, 1997, Oliver Vincent Finney is a midfielder for Hartlepool United in the National League. He spent seven seasons at Crewe Alexandra before joining Hartlepool in January 2023. Notably, he is the older brother of Charlie Finney, a midfielder at Crewe Alexandra.

In early 2016, Finney signed professional terms with Crewe while still a scholar in the club’s academy. He went on loan to Nantwich Town in December 2016. He made his debut for Crewe in May 2017 and signed a new contract with the club in May 2017. He had loan spells at Halesowen Town and later signed an extension with Crewe in May 2018.

After scoring his first goals for Crewe in 2019, Finney signed another one-year deal with an additional year option.

In September 2020, he extended his contract for three more years. Unfortunately, he suffered a broken leg in February 2021 due to a tackle, and his return to play that season was unlikely.

In July 2021, he agreed to a year-long contract extension with Crewe, which would keep him with the club until 2024.
