The Kerala unit of the Congress party has criticized the Union government for appointing Pradeep Kumar Joshi, chairperson of the National Testing Agency (NTA), to investigate the controversy surrounding NEET results.
They argue that it is inappropriate for the head of the agency responsible for conducting the exam to oversee the probe into allegations of irregularities within the same agency.
In addition to the Congress party, many users on X have expressed concerns about the fairness of the investigation, given that the NTA chief is tasked with examining the alleged irregularities of the agency he leads.

For the unversed, on June 8, 2024, NTA Director General Subodh Singh announced at a press conference that a four-member committee would be established to scrutinize the results of 1,600 students who were awarded grace marks.

About Pradeep Kumar Joshi
Educationist Pradeep Kumar Joshi hails from the Almora District of Uttarakhand and comes from an army background, with his father, Sh. K.C. Joshi, having served in the Indian Army.
Dr. Joshi completed his education in Kanpur and earned a Ph.D. in commerce from Kanpur University in 1981. Dr. Joshi is a distinguished academician and researcher with over 28 years of teaching experience at various universities and national institutes.
He served as a senior professor at Rohilkhand University in Bareilly, U.P., from 1979 to 2000. A specialist in Financial Management, he has published and presented numerous research papers at national and international seminars and conferences.
Notably, Prof. Joshi has held several significant positions throughout his career, including Director of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission, and Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Prof. Joshi joined the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) as a member on May 12, 2015.
He served as the Professor, Head & Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur (MP) since May 2000 to 12th June 2006 and also served as the Chairman, Board of Studies and Chairman, R.D.C. in Business Administration, Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur (MP) during that period (till June 2006). Prior to that, he served Department of Business Administration, Rohilkhand University, Bareilly (UP) and Bareilly College, Bareilly (UP) as Reader and has held several administrative positions during his tenure as an Educator.
