The next project for Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut has been decided. The Queen actress said on Wednesday that she will be taking on the role of iconic theatrical figure Binodini Dasi, also known as Noti Binodini, a Bengali theatre legend.
Pradeep Sarkar, who is widely known for his work on “Parineeta” and “Mardani,” will helm the forthcoming movie. Prakash Kapadia, who previously authored “Devdas and Tanhaji,” is going to write the script for the movie.

Who Is Noti Binodini?
Noti Binodini was a well-known theatrical figure and a thespian in the Bengali film industry. She has been in the news because actress Kangana Ranaut is going to take on her role in her biographical movie, directed by Pradeep Sarkar.
She was born in 1862 in the undivided Bengal of British India. She was also well-known by other names including Notee Binodini and Binodini Dasi. She was born into a family of sex workers.
She passed away in 1941 at the age of 79, leaving a legacy that is still unparalleled today.
Her Career
Noti Binodini began her career as a courtesan and, at the age of twelve, under the guidance of Girish Chandra Ghosh, the theater’s founder, she performed in her first major theatrical part in Calcutta’s National Theatre.
She quickly rose to prominence as a leading actress at Kolkata’s National Theatre and frequently performed there. Despite having a brief career due to her early retirement, she has played several iconic parts. She portrayed several characters, including Kaikeyi, Motibibi, Kapalkundala, Draupadi, Pramila, and Sita.
Throughout her career, Noti Binodini received several honorable names, including “Moon of the Star Theatre,” “Flower of the Native Stage,” and others.
She portrayed the saint Sri Chaitanya in her most well-known performance. The top performers in Bengal’s performing arts community praised her for her performance. Shri Ramakrishna, who was present in the crowd, also praised her.
In her later years, after taking early retirement from the theatre, Noti Binodini also demonstrated her skills as a poet and writer. She become one of the Asian actors who wrote her own autobiography. Her biography named “Amar Katha” provided insight into the modern Bengali theatre scene and Bengali culture as a whole.
