Noah Lyles is an American professional track and field sprinter who was born on 18 July 1997, in Gainesville, Florida, United States. He was born to parents Kevin Lyles and Keisha Caine. Noah had a talent for running at an early age and secured his first national title in the 200 metres sprint aged just 16.

Following his national success, Noah Lyles made his international debut in 2016, during the World Junior Championships where he managed to secure the gold medal in the 200 meters. He also played a key role in helping the 4×100-meter relay secure another gold medal victory. The following year in 2017, Noah Lyles secured the silver medal in the 200 meters at the World Championships.

He continued his winning streak into 2018 when he won another gold medal at the World Indoor Championships. However, Noah Lyles achieved his breakthrough year in 2019, starting with a gold medal in the men’s 200 meters at the World Indoor Championships. He then secured another gold medal in the 200 meters at the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar. Noah also won the silver medal in the 100 meters in that same competition.

He became the first ever American man to win a medal in both events at the same World Championships since Justin Gatlin back in 2011. That year, he won the IAAF World Athlete of the Year due to his achievements.

Lyles has continued to dominate in recent years, winning a gold medal in the 200 meters as well as in the 4×100-meter relay at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. His most recent success is at the ongoing 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, where he won the 100m sprint. Lyles finished the race in 9.83 seconds and tied for the fastest time of the year. He is now currently training for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics where he is one of the favorites to win gold in the 200 meters.
