In a flooded neighbourhood of Delhi, the body of a 26-year-old civil service candidate Nilesh Rai was discovered stuck to an iron gate.

26 year old Nilesh Rai, a young man from the Deoria hamlet in the Ghazipur Kotwali district, passed away in Delhi.
Nilesh had gone to the St. John’s School in Ghazipur. Rai is survived by his two sisters and parents, who live in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh and his father Narender Rai is an advocate and his mother Neelam Rai is a primary school teacher. Rai completed his engineering from Bengaluru but decided to become an IAS officer.
Nilesh was in staying Delhi and preparing for UPSC. He left his room for library. He perished when he came into contact with electricity pouring from a broken wire in the gate when he was leaving the colony. On Wednesday, his last rites were held in Ghazipur.
Nilesh Rai passed away near the Patel Nagar metro station. The Ranjit Nagar Police Station was notified at 2:43 pm that an electric current had caused a person to become attached to an iron gate.

Authorities discovered an electrocuted individual at the scene and discovered that the iron gate was live with current.
The hazardous conditions were further compounded by the wet road in the vicinity.
Nilesh Rai was brought to RML Hospital right away, where upon arrival, medical professionals declared him deceased.
Nilesh was preparing for his fourth UPSC exam try. Despite failing the previous three preliminary tests, he succeeded this time and was preparing for the major exam. He was from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh and graduated with a degree in civil engineering from MSRIT in Bangalore. During his fourth year of engineering at IISC, Rai had been a research assistant. His father practices law in district courts.
Investigation
Sections 106(1) (death due to negligence) and 285 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita have been invoked in a FIR filed at PS Ranjit Nagar.
In order to ascertain how the gate became electrified, the forensic team inspected the spot, and additional inquiries are pending.
Abhishek Singh, 26, a friend of Nilesh who also lived in the same PG, claimed to have watched helplessly. He revealed that they yelled for assistance and attempted to use a wooden ladder to push him off the gate, but the water was also electric and the ladder was soaked from the rain.
