Chad Bowes smashes fastest double hundred record
New Zealand batting sensation Chad Bowes recently broke the world record for the fastest double hundred in List A cricket. He achieved the major milestone on Wednesday in just 103 balls, while playing for Canterbury against Otago in the Ford Trophy. Bowes ended the match with 205 runs off 110 deliveries.

Chad Jayson Bowes is a South African-born New Zealand cricketer who was born on October 19, 1992, in Benoni, South Africa with his height at 5 feet 10 inches. He is currently 32 years old, and plays for Canterbury at the domestic level with him wearing the number 30 jersey. Chad notably captained the South Africa Under-19 cricket team and also played for KwaZulu-Natal at the domestic level.
Career and stats
Chad Bowes started out his career playing for the domestic side KwaZulu-Natal before eventually moving to New Zealand in 2015. There, he joined the Sydenham Cricket Club in October of 2015. After playing at the domestic level New Zealand for seven years, Bowes made his ODI debut in 2023 against Sri Lanka. He has since played six ODIs and 11 T20Is for the Kiwis, and scored a fifty each in both formats.
During the match, Bowes scored a century in 53 balls, narrowly missing out on breaking Ross Taylor’s record for the fastest hundred. He reached his half-century in 26 balls and finished his 100th List A match, with 27 fours and seven sixes. Chad Bowes’ stunning score helped Canterbury to go 343 for 9, to register a massive 240-run win over Otago. The 32-year-old also managed to become the first player since Jamie How to score a double hundred in the tournament.
