Who is Bevon Jacobs?

Born on May 6, 2022, Bevon Jacobs, whose full name Bevon John Jacobs was born in Pretoria, South Africa. The player moved to New Zealand with his family at the age of 3.

Raised in Auckland, he developed his cricketing skills under the guidance of his father. Jacobs represented Auckland at age-group levels and excelled for Westlake Boys High School in school cricket.

Jacobs, 22, is an explosive middle-order batter who was one of the breakout stars of the 2023-24 Super Smash in New Zealand and he slotted in as a finisher for Canterbury Kings, hitting 134 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 188.73, the second best after Doug Bracewell (202.02) among batters who had faced at least 50 balls in the tournament.

Career

In 2021, while playing for Sydenham Cricket Club in Christchurch Metro competition, Jacobs etched his name into the record books with an unbeaten 178 against Old Boys Collegians, the highest individual score in the tournament’s history.

Later, he moved to Christchurch. Currently, he is pursuing a degree at the Lincoln University in sport and recreation management.

Jacobs made his List A debut for Canterbury on November 25, 2023, in the Ford Trophy against Wellington. Less than a month later, on December 19, 2023, he impressed on his T20 debut for Canterbury Kings in the Super Smash, smashing 42 runs off just 20 balls.

During the Super Smash Season 2023-24, he emerged as one of the breakout stars. A dynamic middle-order batter, Jacobs made a significant impact as a finisher for Canterbury Kings, scoring 134 runs in just 6 innings at a blistering strike rate of 188.73.

One of his standout performances came on debut when he took on experienced bowlers like Sean Solia and Jimmy Neesham, smashing 42 off 20 balls at the Eden Park Outer Oval.
