Preity Zinta, Indian actress and one of the directors of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, filed a civil suit against firm directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia, but Kaushal Kumar Yadav, the Chandigarh civil judge, dismissed it.

Preity Zinta asked the court to declare the company’s April 21, 2025, Extra Ordinary General Meeting unlawful and unconstitutional in a lawsuit she filed. She argued that Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia had conducted the meeting in complete contempt of the firm’s articles and in breach of the Companies Act of 2013.

Preity Zinta had moved court against Punjab Kings co-owners over a disputed meeting and had a filed a legal case against her fellow co-directors Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia in a Chandigarh court. The three are directors of KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, the company that owns the Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Punjab Kings.

Ness Wadia was born in Mumbai, India, into a Parsi family on 30 May 1971 and is 5ft 10in tall. His parents are Maureen Wadia, a former air hostess, and Nusli Wadia, a businessman. Neville Wadia and Dina Wadia were the parents of his father. Ness grew up with his brother Jehangir Wadia.

The Parsis are known for practicing Zoroastrianism, an ancient monotheistic religion originating in Persia, founded by prophet Zoroaster (Zarathustra).

In the late 19th century, his grandfather, the son of Sir Ness Wadia, was instrumental in making Bombay one of the biggest cotton gin trading hubs in the world. Dina, his grandmother, was the daughter of Rattanbai Petit and Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.

Ness’ grandparents are Neville Wadia and Dina Wadia and Dina was the daughter of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, which makes him the great-grandfather of Ness. Ness is currently single and unmarried.

Following his studies at Lawrence School and The Cathedral & John Connon School in Himachal Pradesh, he went on to attend Millfield School in the United Kingdom. Wadia attended Tufts University, which is located close to Boston, Massachusetts, to study international relations.

From February 2005 to 2009, Wadia dated Bollywood actress Preity Zinta; the two were the focus of tremendous media attention.

Zinta reported Wadia to the Mumbai police on June 13, 2014, claiming he had assaulted her during an IPL game on May 30 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

In 2019, a Japanese court sentenced him to two years in prison with a five-year suspension for possessing 25 grams of cannabis resin.

In 1993, Wadia became a management trainee at Bombay Dyeing. He was interested in a number of organizations during his earlier years and was heavily involved in the company’s textile division’s marketing and retail distribution.

He took a leave of absence in 1998 to finish his master’s thesis, “Leading to Success in India,” for his Science of Engineering Business Management degree from the University of Warwick. He served on the Prime Minister’s Council on Trade and Industry in 1998, 1999, and 2000. In September 1998, he was named the Convenor of the Special Group Task Force on Food and Agro Industries Management Policy.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wadia sent supplies to the state of Sikkim. He has been observed to be pro-LGBTQI community.

Although his net worth isn’t known, as per Forbes his father, Nusli Wadia, has a net worth of USD 5.7 billion and the Wadia family is one of the richest in the country.
