The 49-year-old, Neal holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and earned his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Prior to becoming YouTube’s CEO, he served as its chief product officer.
Neal Mohan began his career in 1996 with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), and in 2002 he joined a fledgling company named NetGravity, which was subsequently purchased by the internet advertising company DoubleClick.
Mohan has previously worked with Microsoft and has been a part of some of the software behemoths. He was also a board member of Stitch Fix and 23andMe.
Neal Mohan was born in either 1973 or 1974 in Lucknow, India and grew up in the U.S state of Michigan, as well as in Florida, before briefly spending a few more years in India during high school.
Neal’s father, Dr Aditya Mohan, was born in 1939 in Lucknow, India and his mother’s name is Dr Deepa Mohan. Neal has two younger brothers.
Neal Mohan and wife Hema Sareen Mohan got married in New York during his time working for DoubleClick. Neal Mohan’s estimated net worth is 350 Million Dollars and Google paid Neal Mohan a $100 million bonus in 2013.
Successor Of Wojcicki
Wojcicki and Mohan have been working together for nearly 15 years. As part of the DoubleClick acquisition in 2007, he became Google’s senior vice president of Display and Video Ads. Since 2008, Neal Mohan has been part of Google, the parent company of YouTube. In 2015, he became YouTube’s chief product officer. Post his promotions, he became the natural successor of Wojcicki.
The 54-year-old Wojcicki said, “Neal has a wider sense of our business, our products, creator and user communities, and our employees. “Neal is going to be a terrific leader for YouTube.” She further added that this is where YouTube’s most exciting potential lies. This is due to everything they are doing in terms of shorts, streaming, and subscriptions, as well as the promises of artificial intelligence. According to her, Neal is the best person to guide them through these opportunities.
He helped launch some of YouTube’s top-notch products, including YouTube TV, YouTube Music, Premium, and Shorts and led the Trust and Safety team.
