Shopkeeper held accountable for assualting Dutch YouTuber Pedro Mota

Following a rapid response by the Bengaluru City Police, the shopkeeper involved in the altercation was detained on Monday afternoon. The video clip of the event circulated widely on social media, leading to the shopkeeper’s arrest. The police have committed to sternly dealing with the assailant.

Local activist Brinda Adige was quick to denounce the incident. She firmly asserted that such behavior is absolutely intolerable and urged the police to take severe action against the responsible parties.

YouTuber Pedro Mota’s horrific Encounter

Pedro shared the video of the event on his YouTube channel, providing a descriptive caption detailing his disturbing experience. The footage displayed the irate shopkeeper grabbing and twisting Pedro’s hand and arm, behaving aggressively as the YouTuber tried to escape.

The YouTube video, uploaded by Pedro Mota, showcased his journey through the market area. He then encountered a Muslim shopkeeper who immediately took offense to being recorded. The man seized Pedro’s hand, interrogating him about his filming.

The Bengaluru police have arrested a Bengaluru trader identified as Navab Hayath Sharif for misbehaving with a foreign national and Sharif was arrested from Chor Bazaar in Bengaluru’s Chickpet area, where he manhandled and harassed YouTuber Pedro Mota, a Dutch citizen while the latter was recording his vlog.

Narrow escape for the YouTuber Pedro Mota

In an attempt to placate the shopkeeper, Pedro greeted him with a Namaskar while trying to extricate himself from the man’s grip. However, the shopkeeper responded with hostility and attempted to snatch Pedro’s camera. Pedro luckily broke free from the shopkeeper’s clutches and was able to flee the scene.

Bengaluru police take swift action

After the incident, clips from the YouTube video depicting the Dutch Pedro Mota harassment circulated widely on the internet. Upon receipt of a complaint from a Twitter user, the Bengaluru Police confirmed they would take the necessary action in the matter.

“Bengaluru City Police have informed the concerned police station to take necessary action in this regard,” stated an official tweet.
