Nate Oats was quizzed about Miller’s alleged involvement in the crime during his regularly scheduled press conference as trial revelations started to emerge.

Who is Nate Oats?
Now 48 years old, Nathanael Justin Oats was born on October 13, 1974. While still in high school, he played three seasons as a starter for the Maranatha School basketball team in Watertown, Wisconsin.

He stayed in Watertown after finishing high school and joined NCCAA Division II/NCAA Division III Maranatha Baptist University to play basketball there.
In 1997, Oats joined the staff at Maranatha Baptist and started his coaching career there. In 2002, he was appointed the basketball team’s head coach at Romulus High School.
He was given several Coach of the Year honours by the local press between 2005 and 2013.
Bobby Hurley, the head coach of Buffalo, appointed Oats as an assistant in 2013. Oats received the position of head coach in 2015. In the 2018–19 regular season, he led the Bulls to a 28–3 record, earning the title of 2019 MAC Coach of the Year.
Oats was named the Alabama Crimson Tide’s head coach by athletic director Greg Byrne in 2019. In addition, Oats won the SEC Coach of the Year award after his second campaign as head coach in 2020–2021.

Nate Oats’ wife, whom he married in 1997, goes by the name of Crystal Oats. She also enjoys basketball a lot and closely follows every game.
In November 2015, Oats announced on his Facebook page that his wife had been diagnosed with an aggressive type of cancer. Crystal fought cancer heroically, going through chemotherapy.
