The match between Oman and Namibia ended in tie after Namibia managed to level Oman’s first innings score of 109 in 20 overs. Following the tie, the two teams played the Super Over to determine the winner. Namibia got to bat first and David Wiese stepped up for his side by smashing three fours and a six off Bilal Khan. He set up a total of 21 runs in one over, setting a target of 22 for Oman.

Meanwhile, when it came for Namibia to bowl, David Wiese came in again to conceded just 10 runs while picking a wicket of Naseem Khushi, restricting team Onam to just 10/1.  As a result, Namibia started off their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with an exciting win over Oman.

David Wiese is a South African-born Namibian cricketer who was born on May 18, 1985, in Roodepoort, South Africa. The veteran all-rounder currently plays for Namibia in international cricket after becoming eligible to for Namibia since his father was born in Namibia.

He was paid INR 1 crore in IPL 2023 and has a net worth of Rs.8 crore.

During his childhood, David Wiese attended Witbank High School, in Emalahleni, South Africa. He later attended the University of Pretoria, South Africa, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Internal Auditing.

David started playing cricket when he was just nine years old and always wanted to become a cricketer since his childhood despite his parents wanting him to focus on academics. However, his passion for the sport eventually won them over and he soon joined the Harry Shapiro’s Cricket Institute to obtain specialized training in cricket.

During his early years, David wanted to become a spinner but eventually became a pacer with his growing physical strength. He initially started out playing for South Africa from 2013 to 2016 and made his international debut for South Africa during a T20I match against Sri Lanka way back in August 2013. He was also a part of the South Africa team that took part in the 2016 T20 World Cup.

David Wiese played his last international game for the Proteas in a T20I match against India in March 2016. The all-rounder eventually chose to play for Namibia as he became eligible to represent the country in international cricket since his father was born in Namibia. He made his international debut for Namibia in the 2021 T20 World Cup marking his return I international cricket after five years. He played his first match for Namibia during a T20I match against United Emirates.

Over the years, he has become a pillar for Namibia. Back in the 2021 T20 World Cup, he scored an unbeaten 66 off 44 balls, helping his side secure a win over Netherlands. He then made his ODI debut against Oman in the United Arab Emirates Tri-Series back in 2022. The veteran all-rounder has since become the 15th player to represent two national teams in ODIs.
