Murat Yakin is a former football player who played as a center-back. He played most of his career at Basel, his home team, where he was the captain, libero, and defensive linchpin during their minor European and local successes.
In addition to winning the Swiss Cup three times (1994, 2002, 2003), he won the Swiss Super League five times (1995, 1996, 2002, 2004, 2005).
