Mumbai made history after securing their 42nd Ranji Trophy title with a win over Vidarbha by 169 runs. The team started off the series on a strong note, reducing Vidarbha to 133 for 4. However, Karun Nair and captain Akshay Wadkar stepped up for Vidarbha and kept the teamโ€™s hopes alive during the fourth day and the first session of the fifth.

Tanush Kotian brought out a remarkable performance with a four-wicket haul, which led to their dismissal for 368 runs in the final innings. His performances earned him the player of the series. When the season started, we wanted to win this Ranji trophy because we were runners up two years back. We have been putting a lot of effort into getting this cup, and we are incredibly happy to finally achieve it. Last season’s performances gave me a lot of confidence. My dad, my coaches and Ajju da worked extremely hard with me, they guided me all through the way.โ€

Tanush Kotian bio

Tanush Kotian is an Indian professional cricket player who currently plays at the domestic level for Mumbai. He was born on October 16, 1998 in Mumbai, India, and he is currently 25 years old with his height at 6 feet. Tanush made his first-class cricket debut while representing Mumbai during the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season.

He later made his List A cricket debut in the 2020-21 Vijay Hazare Trophy before making his Twenty20 debut in the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Kotian’s father, Karunakar, was a regular in Mumbai’s tennis-ball circuit and would take his son along to the tournaments. .
