The Gujarat Police in Mumbai have arrested Islamic preacher Mufti Salman Azhari in relation to a police report that claims he made a hate speech on January 31 at a gathering close to the ‘B’ division police station in Junagadh.

During the contentious speech, Azhari said,
Abhii karbalaa kaa aakhirii maidaan baakii hai, kuchh der kii khaamoshii hai, phir shor aaegaa… aaj kutto ka vakt hai, hamaaraa daur aayegaa!
Following the wide distribution of the speech, Mufti Salman Azhari and local organizers Mohammad Yousuf Malek and Azim Habib Odedara were charged under sections 153B (promoting hatred between religious communities) and 505 (2) (making comments conducive to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code.
Malek, Habib, and Azhari were taken into custody previously, but on Sunday, Azhari was located in Mumbai. After receiving a transit remand from a Mumbai court, the Gujarat Police carried out the operation to return Azhari to Junagadh with the assistance of the Anti-Terrorist Squad.
On Tuesday, Mufti Salman Azhari is scheduled to appear before a Junagadh court. The accused reportedly made an inflammatory remark during the meeting, despite having received police authorization for it, which was supposedly to debate religion and raise awareness about de-addiction. As a result, the local criminal bureau in Junagadh is currently conducting an inquiry.

He completed his studies at Al Azhar University in Cairo and is renowned for his active participation in a variety of socio-religious activities.
Mufti Salman Azhari has developed a sizable following among Muslims and is the founder of Jamia Riazul Jannah, Al-Aman Education and Welfare Trust, and Darul Aman. He frequently gives inspirational talks and counsels Islamic students.
