Why did Mr Sinha tweet against the Maldives?

When Indian internet users expressed their outrage at the disparaging remarks made against their nation, Mr Sinha brought up an important point in his clarification post. He tweeted that he had no intention to hurt the sentiments of Maldivians. All he wanted to convey was that India is against the Maldives’ new government because it is pro-China and anti-India, not the Maldives.

Speaking to the media, Mr Sinha emphasized that while Mohamed Muizzu’s government is in power, the opposition in the Maldives is pro-China. Notably, the dispute started before Muizzu’s January 8 visit to China.
