Bangkok shooting kills five people
A shocking incident took place at around 12:31 p.m. at the Or Tor Kor Market in northern Bangkok, near Chatuchak Market, which is a hotspot for tourists. The shooter, dressed in a black T-shirt, camouflage shorts, and a baseball cap, opened fire on security personnel and vendors. The incident killed at least five people, with four of them being security guards and one being a market vendor. At least two more were also left injured. Notably, the gunman later shot himself dead on a nearby bench as bystanders fled the scene.

According to authorities and official reports, the shooting took place because of a deep personal dispute, as Mr. Noi harbored a grudge against security guards at the market. The grudge stemmed from an incident that occurred in 2019 or 2020, when someone allegedly scratched his car. Mr. Noi’s wife, who also operates a food stall at the market, revealed to investigators that her husband had never let go of the grievance. Police went on to emphasize that the attack was not politically motivated or connected to any of the recent border tensions.

As of now, there is hardly any information available about the shooter, including his full name, which remains unknown. He is known only by his nickname, “Mr. Noi,” as of now, and he was reportedly 61-years-old at the time of his death. Mr. Noi reportedly worked as a former security guard at Or Tor Kor Market and had left his position under unclear circumstances.
His wife worked as a food vendor at the market, police stated how Mr. Noi was known to be temperamental and obsessive about his personal belongings, particularly his car. He lived in Bangkok and had no prior criminal record. Since he was a former employee of Or Tor Kor Market, he was familiar with both the layout and the people working there.
Referring to the gunman only by the nickname “Mr Noi”, police described him as a “person who loves and is very protective of his car” and “also a violent person” and he was seen wearing a black T-shirt, military shorts, baseball cap, and rucksack.
