Aryan Juyal smashes first century in UP T20 League 2024

Aryan Juyal, who plays as a wicketkeeper-batter for the Gorakhpur Lions, on Monday smashed the first century of the ongoing Uttar Pradesh T20 League. The match started off with Noida Super Kings skipper Nitish Rana winning the toss and making the Lions bat first. After some impressive starts from Abhishek Goswami and skipper Dhruv Jurel, and Juyal came on to add a match-winning 154 runs. After Jurelโ€™s dismissal, Juyal and Akshdeep Nath together added another 34 runs for the third wicket leading to an impressive 218 in 20 overs.

Aryan Juyal bio

Aryan Juyal is an Indian cricketer who was born on November 11, 2001, in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. Juyal was born into a family of doctors, including his father Dr. Sanjay Juyal. He grew up in Haldwani in Uttarakhand. Juyal currently plays as a wicket-keeper for the Uttar Pradesh cricket team as well as the Central Zone cricket team.

Aryan is currently making headlines after smashing the first century in the ongoing UP T20 League 2024. The youngster made his List A debut for Uttar Pradesh back in the 2017/18 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Prior to his List A debut, Aryan feature in the India National Under-19 cricket team during the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Aryan Juyal is currently 22 years old and stands at a height of 1.7 m.

Career and stats

When Aryan Juyal was just in the third grade, aged 8, he got selected to play for the school team in his hometown, Haldwani, Uttarakhand. By the time he reached the fifth grade, Juyal started showing serious signs of talent in cricket. During a tournament in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Juyal gained the attention of Ravindra Negi, a coach from the Abhimanyu Cricket Academy.

Aryan soon got enrolled at this academy aged 11, and eventually settled into the residential cricket academy. During his time there, Juyal polished his raw talent and soon began making regular appearances in the Uttar Pradesh Under-14, and Under-16 teams. After spending two years at Dehradun, Juyal soon moved to Moradabad, from where he travelled to Delhi often for five days at a time. Aryan was training at the LB Shastri Cricket Club in Delhi under Sanjay Bharadwaj.

Back at their home in Haldwani, Juyalโ€™s father built an indoor enclosure with one turf and one artificial wicket. As such, during the monsoons, when Juyal couldnโ€™t play outdoors, he would go home to train at the indoor enclosure at home. Aryan Juyal gained prominence after scoring 401 runs from five innings, at the Vinoo Mankad Trophy in 2017. His performances in that earned him a spot in the Challenger Trophy.

Aryan Juyal then made his T20 debut during the 2018/19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Uttar Pradesh. Back in November 2019, the young wicketkeeper featured in the Indian team for the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. He went on to make made his first-class debut that same year on December 9 2019, during the 2019/20 Ranji Trophy for Uttar Pradesh. During the 2022 ISL season, the Mumbai Indians bought Juyal in the auction ahead of the season.
