In the 86th minute, Ronaldo was sent off for elbowing Al-Hilal defender Ali Al-Bulayhi, causing him to fall hard to the ground, during a brief altercation close to the touchline. Ronaldo appeared to be about to punch referee Mohammed Al Hoaish after his dismissal, raising his hand in the air.
