Who is Mo Bobat?
Mo Bobat is a sports science and management graduate who spent seven years teaching but had previous experience coaching youth cricket at Leicestershire, began working at the National Cricket Performance Centre on the university campus in Loughborough in 2011.
For the past four years, 40-year-old Bobat has been in charge of the England Men’s route. During that time, he has found and developed the players who have helped the team win World Cups in the 50-over and 20-over formats while also reviving their Test fortunes under the leadership of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum.
Since 2011, he has worked for the ECB, first managing the England Men’s Under-19s team. He was appointed the first Player Identification Lead for the company in 2016.
He graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a Sports Science & Management Degree and almost fell into teaching which he did for 7 years across two different colleges in Leicester. Teaching was a great grounding for me in many ways and was also a nice fit with my broader interests as he was able to spend evenings, weekends and holidays coaching cricket which he really enjoyed.
