27 year old Baljeet Kaur has been located by an aerial search team which was seen descending alone towards Camp IV. Kaur was left alone below the summit point and she remained out of radio contact until she sent a signal through the radio and she was asking for “immediate help”.
The Indian climber has been air-lifted and she safely arrived at Annapurna base camp. Baljeet Kaur has been flown back to Kathmandu for a basic medical examination.
The company’s organizing and expedition released a statement that shared the updates about Baljeet Kaur’s rescue. Everyone praised and applauded her for her hard training, abilities, and skills, and also wished Baljeet Kaur a swift and complete recovery.
Since Baljeet was a kid, she has been fascinated by the mountains and always went climbing small hills near her village Panjrol which is in the Kandhaghat tehsil of Himachal’s Solan district, India.
Baljeet Kaur’s mother, Shanti Devi was quite sure about Baljeet’s career and believed that she would accomplish big in the field of mountaineering.
“Meri beti ne aj jo kar dikhaya hai, woh toh sbse uncha kam hai hmare liye(Our daughter’s feat is the highest honor for us and family),” said Shanti Devi in an interview with the Indian Express.
Baljeet has 3 siblings and they help their mother in managing farm work while her father Amrik Singh works as a bus driver in the Himachal Road Transport Corporation.
Baljeet did her schooling at a Government Senior Secondary School. After her schooling, she joined the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and that’s when her mountaineering journey began.
