A skin disorder called vitiligo causes white to pale spots to start showing on the skin’s surface. The skin cells that provide the skin’s pigmentation cease to function, resulting in the patches. A major milestone for her nation was reached when Logina Salah became the first Egyptian competitor to place in the top 30 in the pageant’s 73-year history.

By doing this, Logina not only reinterpreted conventional notions of beauty but also sparked an inclusive discussion, proving that genuine beauty transcends outward appearance.

Logina Salah thanked her 1.8 million Instagram followers, writing, “WE MADE HISTORY.” The fact that Egypt advanced to the Miss Universe semifinals makes her extremely happy and proud. This is the outcome of persistent commitment, diligence, and an unshakable drive for excellence.

The groundbreaking experience of Canadian model and activist Winnie Harlow, who also has vitiligo, is reminiscent to Logina Salah’s historic accomplishment at Miss Universe 2024. The first model with vitiligo to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Winnie gained notoriety after competing on America’s Next Top Model in 2014.
