The NBA announced on Sunday that Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch has been chosen to lead the NBA Western Conference All-Stars in the next game that is set to take place in Indianapolis on February 18.

This marks Finch’s inaugural appearance as an All-Star head coach, making him the second coach in Timberwolves history to receive this honor. Two outstanding Timberwolves players, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, will join Finch on the All-Star stage.

Who is Chris Finch?

Chris Finch is a well-known American professional basketball coach and former player. He has been in the news because he was chosen to lead the NBA Western Conference All-Stars in the next game.

He was born on 6th November 1969 in Cambridge, Ohio, U.S. He did his schooling at Wilson High School. Later, Chris Finch attended Franklin & Marshall College.

His height is 6 feet 2 inches or 1.88 meters and he is currently 54 years old.

Finch never married or had any kids.

His career

Chris Finch became a coach after having a successful playing career. He began his coaching career in England with the Sheffield Forgers and went on to coach the Sheffield Sharks, who were the most successful team in the history of the British Basketball League.

Finch traveled to Belgium and Germany, where he was successful with Euphony Bree and the Giessen 46ers, earning the Belgian Basketball League title in 2005. He proceeded with his coaching career at Dexia Mons-Hainaut, leading them to the 2007–08 EuroChallenge final.

Chris Finch became the NBA Development League’s coach of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in 2009, leading them to their first title and winning D-League Coach of the Year. Following were coaching positions in the NBA, beginning in 2011 as assistant head coach of the Houston Rockets.

He then went on to work for the Denver Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans, and Toronto Raptors, where he accompanied Nick Nurse as an assistant coach.

After taking over as head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves on February 22, 2021, Chris Finch guided the team to a 46–36 record in his first full season and their first postseason appearance since 2018. On April 11, 2022, he signed a multi-year extension.

Outside of the NBA, Finch coached the men’s national team for Great Britain in the 2012 Summer Olympics and EuroBasket. However, he left the squad to concentrate on his coaching career in the NBA.
