Lollobrigida made her first English-language film in 1953, John Huston’s camp drama Beat the Devil, in which she played Humphrey Bogart’s wife and collaborator. She had previously featured in over a dozen European films.
In 1954, she appeared on the cover of Time thanks to her success with that picture and the Italian-French period comedy Fanfan la Tulipe, both of which had their American premieres that year. She was married to Milko Skofic.

Yugoslavian-born doctor Milko Skofic took over management of Italian icon Gina Lollobrigida in 1949. The ex-husband of Gina, is a licenced MD from Slovenia (then Yugoslavia). Their wedding took place in 1949. Milko’s DOB isn’t known but he was born between 1920-1925.
He left behind a successful medical profession to become Gina’s manager. On July 28, 1957, they gave birth to their only child, a male they named Milko Skofic Jr. Gina and Milko came from Italy to Toronto in 1960 so that Milko could handle her career as an actor.
The Internet Movie Database lists the 1958 picture Anna of Brooklyn as one of his filmography credits. It’s unclear what part Milko plays in the film, but Gina plays a “beautiful, wealthy widow” who returns to the Italian town where she was born in hopes of finding a husband. In 1966, the couple began living apart, and by 1971, they had divorced.
