Before a storm delayed the men’s tournament, Sudo successfully defended her championship title by taking first place and eating 39. Sudo at first thought she had eaten 37 hot dogs. It was later determined that she ate so quickly that some of the hot dogs she consumed were not recorded after a judge’s count. She accomplished 39 and a half counts in under ten minutes.

Who is Miki Sudo?
Miki Sudo has nine Nathan’s championships. She is a Florida native, and is 37 years old, who owns the world record for eating six hot dogs in a minute. “I’m sorry you guys, but 39 is a low number.” said Sudo. “I would not have left a partially eaten hot dog on the table.”
Although Sudo had intended to have 50 hotdogs today, it seemed that everyone else was suffering from the heat and humidity. Her record for most hot dogs consumed is 48. In 2014, she ousted Sonya Thomas, who had won every female contest since it began in 2011.
She was born to a Japanese father and a European American mother. She and her family relocated to Japan when she was five years old, where they remained for seven years until moving back to the US. When Sudo became pregnant in 2021, she was unable to compete. She hasn’t lost since she came back to recover her reign last year, though.
Since 2018, Sudo has been dating fellow competitive eater Nick Wehry. The couple made the announcement that their first child will be coming in January 2021. They later got engaged in April of the same year. Sudo continued to commentate the Nathan’s event on ESPN.
She stands at an average height of 5 feet 4 inches (1.78) with her net worth between $500,000-1 million.
Sudo won last year’s title with 40 hot dogs and holds the women’s world record for eating 48.5 hot dogs in 10 minutes and after winning this year’s title, she expressed disappointment in her final tally.
