Major League Baseball is investigating allegations of domestic violence and child abuse against Chicago White Sox pitcher Mike Clevinger, know about his contract, girlfriend and family
Clevinger’s daughter is 10 months old. 24-year-old Olivia Finestead made the accusations public on Tuesday via Instagram. Olivia Finestead has also told investigators about multiple instances of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse by Clevinger.
Including one in June in which Clevinger allegedly choked her and another in which he allegedly slapped her in a hotel room while the team was playing the Dodgers and threw used chewing tobacco on their child.

The Chicago White Sox and free agent right-handed pitcher Mike Clevinger agreed to terms on a one-year, $12-million contract, which includes a mutual option for the 2024 season.
Olivia Finestead who is aged 24 is the mother of 32 year old Clevinger’s 10-month-old daughter.
An MLB inquiry is ongoing, according to a source with knowledge of the league’s investigation procedures. According to the same source, the White Sox only learned of the charges after signing him.

At the time of the alleged incident in June, Mike Clevinger was playing for the San Diego Padres. The White Sox spent $12 million on the right-handed pitcher for just one season of work this offseason. After The Athletic published the following statement from Chicago:
In regards to the charges, Mike Clevinger has remained silent, and his representative told media that they need “time” before replying.

According to the collectively agreed policy on domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse, Commissioner Rob Manfred has the authority to impose disciplinary measures on players regardless of whether they have been formally charged with a crime.

Since its implementation in 2015, 17 players have been given suspensions for violating the rules. Most notably, Trevor Bauer’s original 2022 punishment of 324 games was lowered to a 194-game suspension.
If the inquiry is still ongoing when spring training begins next month, MLB may put Mike Clevinger on administrative leave. The 32-year-first old’s season back from his second Tommy John surgery resulted in a 4.33 ERA in 114 1/3 innings pitched for San Diego in 2022.
