Despite Chelsea and Manchester United’s desperation to recruit the transfer market wizard, he has been convinced to come back to Anfield. Meanwhile, Klopp revealed that Michael did not ask him to cancel his departure from the club. As per a report by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Klopp stated:

He further said:

Who is Michael Edwards?
Michael Edwards is appointed as Liverpool’s CEO of football, confirmed the club’s American owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG). The English man was born on Jun 21, 1979 in Southampton and is aged 44.

The 44-year-old has been employed as a consultant for Ian Graham, the former director of research at Liverpool, at his sports advice firm Ludonautics. However, he will be leaving the company on June 1.
Edwards has been confirmed as the chief executive officer of football for Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the owner of Liverpool, and he recently met with key executives of FSG in Boston to go over the specifics of his new position. FSG plans to add another club to its portfolio.
Bringing in fresh leadership for the Premier League club’s football operations will be his first task. Previously serving as Liverpool’s sporting director, he is recognised for having changed the team’s hiring practices and bringing Klopp on board as manager in 2015.

Having departed from the team in 2022, he is poised to re-enter the FSG organisation. His role will involve assembling the football operations staff following Klopp’s departure from Liverpool at the end of the current campaign.
Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and other new additions helped Edwards put together the Liverpool team that won the Premier League in 2019 and the Champions League in 2020, marking the team’s most successful spell in previous memory.
Liverpool signed 20 players while Edwards was there and the vast majority have proven to be successful.
