With a new lap record for the class of 123.056 mph across the 37.7-mile Mountain Course, the 36-year-old Dunlop increased his number of road race victories to 33, completing a Supertwin and Supersport double.
36-year-old Michael Dunlop who is a Northern Irish motorcycle road racer and is known for his record-breaking achievements at the Isle of Man TT was born on 10 April 1989 with his height at 1.8m. He is the nephew of the late Joey Dunlop, whose all-time record of 26 TT victories he broke in 2024, the brother of the late William Dunlop, and the son of the late Robert Dunlop and his wife Louise Dunlop. Michael is currently dating girlfriend Jill but the two don’t have any children together.

Despite losing his father in a practice crash at the North West 200 in 2008 but just 48 hours later, he took to the grid and won the 250cc race ahead of Christian Elkin and John McGuinness.
Just two days after Robert’s death, his two sons, William and Michael, decided to participate in the same 250cc race that Robert had been due to take part in.
Michael Dunlop first took to the Isle of Man in 2006, racing in the Manx GP where he won the Suites Hotel Knowsley Newcomers C race on a 125cc Honda.

Michael Dunlop career
When Dunlop first participated in the TT in 2007, he was placed 25th in the Superbike TT. After his father passed away at the North West 200 earlier in the same year, he decided at the last minute to compete in the 2008 events. Dunlop has also won the North West 200; in 2008, he won the 250-cc race, which was his lone triumph to date. During the preparations for this event, his father was killed.
On Friday, August 31, Dunlop participated in the Manx GP’s Classic Superbike race. With race team Milwaukee Yamaha, Dunlop had a rough start to the 2015 Road Racing season.
Hawk Racing confirmed in February 2016 that Dunlop would once more compete in international road races in the Superbike class while riding a BMW. The closed season of 2016–2017 was marked by a number of rumors regarding potential ideas for 2017. Following Hawk Racing’s 2017 transition from BMW to Suzuki, Dunlop joined Bennett’s Suzuki Racing Team, which would field a four-man team racing the new Suzuki GSX-R1000.
Dunlop was signed by TAS Racing to compete in the top racing categories of the 2018 season in factory BMWs, the team announced in a press statement at the end of March 2018.
Dunlop returned to the Isle of Man TT in 2022 after a two-year break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He won the first Supersport race, setting a new lap record of 129.475 mph and defeating Dean Harrison by a slim margin. Dunlop’s historic 26th TT victory in the inaugural Supersport race on June 1 marked the start of his 2024 TT campaign.
With this triumph, he tied the legendary record of 26 TT victories held by his late uncle Joey Dunlop. At the 2025 Isle of Man TT, Dunlop won four races, increasing his career total to 33 victories and solidifying his position as the most successful rider in the history of the competition. He won two Supertwin TT races and two Supersport TT events that year.
