According to ESPN, the 46-year-old Indianapolis native has agreed to a seven-year contract to become the next head coach of Notre Dame, turning down a lucrative long-term extension from Penn State in the process.

Who is Micah Shrewsberry?
Micah Shrewsberry is a well-known American basketball coach and a former player. He has been in the news because he is set to join Notre Dame after leaving Penn State.
He was born on July 31, 1976, in Indiana. He did his schooling at Cathedral High School. Later, he earned a B.A. degree from Hanover College. Subsequently, he also earned a master’s degree in sports management from Indiana State University.
Micah Shrewsberry is married, and his wife’s name is Molly. They are the parents of four children named Braeden, Nicholas, Caitlin, and Grace. He is currently 46 years old.
His career
Micah Shrewsberry started his basketball career at Hanover College, where he played as a three-year starter and tri-captain. During his time at the college, he topped the league charts in free throw percentage and assists in the 1998–99 season.
After his playing days ended, he started his coaching career as an assistant at Wabash and DePauw. Later, he joined Marshall as an assistant coach under Ron Jirsa. In 2005, he was named head coach at Indiana University South Bend, where he stayed until 2007.
Micah Shrewsberry subsequently joined Brad Stevens’ staff at Butler, where he helped the team reach back-to-back NCAA championship games.
He also coached at Purdue and was an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics before returning to Purdue as an associate head coach. He was named head coach at Penn State in 2021. Now, he is going to join Notre Dame.
Not much was revealed about the coach’s contract with the Nittany Lions but according to abc27.com, the financial records for the basketball staff were around $3 million during the 2021-22 fiscal year.
Details of Micah Shrewsberry’s new deal with Notre Dame haven’t been revealed and aside from the fact that it’ll be seven years, the exact amount hasn’t been officially announced yet. According to Stadium, the contract is well worth more than $4 million per year and with that, the contract is probably worth $28 million throughout the seven years.
In his first season with the Nittany Lions, he had a 14-17 record and Penn State ended the 2022-23 season with a 23-14 record.
