Using voice-cloning software, she imported Billy’s voicemails and entered the dialogue she wanted Billy to say to his friend. She then placed a call to a friend using his iPad as she eagerly awaited the exchange.
Strangely, the friend seemed persuaded by the machine-generated recreation of Mia’s alleged boyfriend’s voice. Unknowingly striking up a discussion with the person he mistakenly believed to be Billy, the friend related how Billy had chosen a random partygoer and had made out with her in front of everyone the night before.
