For brutally stabbing her lover Matthew Trussler in the back at their Tampa, Florida, home in February 2022, former cosplay model Melissa Turner was found guilty of second-degree murder. She dialled 911 while feigning forgetfulness of the events and later testified at her trial that she had acted in self-defence.
Melissa Turner’s Clarification For The Second-Degree Murder
According to sources, Turner was sentenced to 20.5 years in March and is now incarcerated at the mixed-security Lowell Correctional Institution in Florida’s unincorporated Marion County. While serving her term, Turner, however, argued that Trussler had abused her and was possessed by many demons and that she was the one who had been victimised.
She claimed that on October 17, 2019, he assaulted her first and that she stabbed him in retaliation out of self-defence. Melissa Turner testified at her well-known trial, saying, “I didn’t want to do that to him because I loved him. The last thing he wanted was for anyone to find out about his drinking, mental health, or how miserable he was. He constantly attempted to keep these things hidden from everyone.”
The Night of Murder, According to Turner
According to Law & Crime, Turner, 29, said she stabbed her 25-year-old lover out of self-defence. Trussler abruptly woke her while she was asleep after a day and night of drinking, which resulted in a dispute.
He is said to have strangled her, thrown her across the counter, and lunged for a knife during the altercation, which quickly went physical. Turner stabbed Trussler in the back after taking the knife away.
Turner stated during her testimony that she grabbed the knife when Trussler placed it on the table in an attempt to re-strangulate her because she thought he was “going to murder me.” She also talked about Trussler’s drinking issues.
Turner asserted that she could not recall the number of wounds Trussler sustained across his body, only that she could recall stabbing him once in the back.
When Melissa Turner reportedly dialled 911 four hours after stabbing her boyfriend in October 2019, she told the dispatcher that she had discovered Trussler’s body on their terrace.
Where Is The Murderer Melissa Turner Now?
A jury convicted Melissa Turner guilty in February 2022 after a week-long dramatic trial on the grounds that Matthew “was going to die; she knew it, and yet she called nobody.”
According to sources, Melissa is currently incarcerated at the Lowell Correctional Institution, a mixed-security facility in Florida’s unincorporated Marion County, where she was given a 20.5-year prison term on March 18, 2022. Her scheduled date of release is April 27, 2042.
