Melanie Joly brief bio and age

Melanie Joly PC MP is a Canadian politician and lawyer who was born on 16 January 1979 in Montreal, Canada with her height at 5 feet 8 inches. She was born to parents Laurette Racine and Clément Joly and she is currently 44 years old. Joly has served as Canada’s minister of Foreign Affairs ever since assuming office in October 2021. She is a member of the Liberal Party, and represents the Montreal-area riding of Ahuntsic-Cartierville in the House of Commons.

Melanie’s father Clément Joly, currently works as an accountant. He has previously served as the manager of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority from 2002-2007. Besides that, he was also the head of the Liberal Party of Quebec’s finance committee. Meanwhile, her stepmother Carole-Marie Allard, works as a lawyer and a journalist. She previously served as the Laval—East MP during the years 2000 to 2004.

Husband

Melanie is currently married to her husband Félix Marzell, who is the co-founder of Dix au carré. Dix au carré is a research and development laboratory, which specializes in creative design projects. Marzell founded the laboratory along with partner David Barabé. Melanie and Félix currently do not have any children.

Career and achievements

Melanie Joly works as a politician and lawyer and currently holds the position of Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. She has held the position ever since October 2021. Melanie is a member of the Liberal Party, and also a member of in the House of Commons She initially got elected as an MP back in the 2015 federal election. Prior to her current post, she has held various other portfolios like La Francophonie, Tourism, and Canadian Heritage. Back in the 2013 Montreal municipal election, Joly ran for mayor and came in second to the winner, Denis Coderre.

Interestingly, Melanie won the Arnold Edinborough Prize back in 2010 and became the first person from Quebec to do so. The award is given to individuals in honor of their humanitarian activity within the Canadian cultural community. Melanie also led the Quebec Advisory Committee for Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party of Canada leadership candidature back in 2013. Melanie also co-founded Generation of Ideas, which is a political forum for young people from ages 25 to 35. She is also a part of the collective group known as Sortie 13.
