Meatball, an internet personality and Philly girl comedian, found herself in police custody after she was caught participating in the looting of several stores in Philadelphia

For those unfamiliar with the context, Philadelphia has been grappling with a surge in criminal activities, reportedly linked to the Black Lives Matter protests that have been sweeping the city. These protests were sparked by the exoneration of police officer Mark Dial, who fatally shot Eddie Irizarry, a Black individual.

Just prior to joining in the looting, Meatball used her Instagram platform to rally her followers to gather on Walnut Street in Philadelphia. She documented the disturbing scenes of various businesses being ransacked, including Foot Locker, Lululemon, and an Apple store.

Who is Meatball?

Meatball, whose real name is , was seen joyfully recording the looting, displaying laughter and applause. In one video, she audibly declared, “Tell the police they’re either gonna lock me up tonight, or it’s gonna get lit, it’s gonna be a movie.”

Despite her efforts to evade arrest, Blackwell ultimately faced the consequences of her actions. While being handcuffed, she attempted to explain that she was merely trying to obtain gas but was still taken into custody late into the night.

Blackwell had amassed a substantial following, with over 180,000 followers on her official ‘dayjiamainpage’ Instagram account and over 5,000 on her personal account, “dayjiiaaa_.” She was primarily known for selling clothing while seated in a hot tub filled with murky water.

Additionally, the comedian was the creator of the Ain’t Nuffin brand, a Black-owned business specializing in trendy and affordable beanies, hats, and other items.

The brand’s official website highlighted Blackwell’s commitment to excellent service and quick browsing. The products on the website ranged from eight dollars to $50, encompassing colorful beanies, t-shirts, and even a line of lipstick.

Following Meatball’s arrest, social media users shared their thoughts online, expressing disbelief at her apprehension. The hashtag ‘Free Meatball’ quickly gained traction on Twitter as a sign of support.
