In a viral video, Larissa, the model whose photo Matheus took said, “Guys, I’m gonna tell you a joke. It’s too horrible! Are we using an old picture of me? My photo is older; I was young. They’re using my picture for voting in India, portraying me as Indian to fight each other. Look how crazy!”

During a recent press conference, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi displayed a voter list showing the same woman’s photograph that was used 22 times in the Rai constituency of Haryana. Rahul alleged that this was part of a larger, “centralized operation” to influence election results.

He pointed out how that particular image was a stock photo and not a real voter. After examining the photo and discovering the name “Matheus Ferrero” printed on the bottom of the original picture, they managed to discover its source. Following an online search, they confirmed that the photograph was taken by Brazilian photographer Matheus Ferrero, and the photo is publicly available on the internet. As a result, this meant that the BJP likely downloaded it and misused the image by creating fake voter entries.
