The new first lady Marta Nawrocka was born in Gdańsk in 1986, and she went to the Janina Jarzynowna-Sobczak State Ballet School in her youth. She graduated from the University of Gdańsk’s Faculty of Law and Administration.
The three children of the couple are Katarzyna, Antoni, and Daniel. Nawrocki keeps a somewhat private family life despite his public positions; he occasionally attends national events with his family.
Her eldest son, 21-year-old Daniel, is from a previous relationship.
Daniel followed in his mother’s footsteps by studying law at the University of Gdańsk and became politically active. The couple also have two younger children, 15-year-old Antoni and 7-year-old Katarzyna.
Age 39 Marta Nawrocka, a native of Gdansk who is a Christian by religion, has been working for the National Tax Administration for a number of years. She backed her husband during the campaign, and when he was elected president-elect, Karolin Nawrocki received 50.89 percent of the vote in the second round of the election.

Karol Tadeusz Nawrocki was born in Gdansk, Poland, on March 3, 1983. He comes from a working-class family. His mother was an intaglio printer, while his father was a toolmaker. Having shown an early interest in history, Nawrocki went on to study at the University of Gdansk, where he obtained a master’s degree in 2008 and a doctorate in humanities in 2013.
His doctoral thesis examined the Elbląg Province’s social resistance to communist rule between 1976 and 1989. He continued his study in 2023 by graduating from the Gdansk University of Technology with an International MBA in Strategy, Program, and Project Management.
He joined IPN in 2009 and from 2013 to 2017 he was the head of the Branch Public Education Office in Gdańsk. He was named President of IPN in July 2021, where he supervised studies of Poland’s history in the 20th century.
During his tenure as director of this museum in Gdansk from 2017 to 2021, Nawrocki made modifications to its permanent exhibition that sparked both support and criticism.
In addition to hosting the radio show “Historia Nieoczywista, ” he is the author of multiple books and essays about organized crime and anti-communist resistance in Poland during the communist era.
