According to Nashville police, he was shot during the encounter at the hands of a Metro Nashville police officer. A Nashville police official verified that the incident happened at Capp’s residence in the Hermitage area.

Police received reports that Capps had been holding his wife, 60, and stepdaughter, 23, a hostage since Thursday at gunpoint. A statement from the police that went into further detail about what took place and its circumstances were also made public.

Who is Mark Capps?

Mark Capps was a well-known American sound engineer and music producer. He has been in the news because he was recently shot dead in an encounter.

On December 1st, 1968, he was born in Nashville. He was Jimmy Capps’s (a former Grand Ole Opry house musician) son. He was introduced to music-making at a young age because he was born into a musical household.

He was married to Tara Solomon Capps. He also has one 23-year-old stepdaughter.

He died on January 5, 2023, in Hermitage, Tennessee. He was 54 years old when he died.

His Career

For his work on polka recordings, engineer, mixer and producer, Mark Capps received four consecutive Grammy Awards from 2005 to 2008. He collaborated with musicians including Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, the Oak Ridge Boys, Olivia Newton-John, The Chicks, Big & Rich, and others throughout his career.

He recently worked with Dolly Parton on her current album, “Run, Rose, Run.”

Cause of death of Mark Capps

The Nashville police were looking for Mark Capps for severe assault and kidnapping allegations. His wife and daughter were able to alert them to the situation while he was dozing off, according to a statement made by Nashville police after his arrest.

They apparently managed to escape after he went to sleep despite his repeated threats to kill them if they tried to call anybody. Afterward that day, an arrest warrant was obtained after they went to the police.
