The Corona, California native has experience working with a variety of sports programmes in both the college and professional game thanks to her short career.
She is currently getting ready to take over one of the best medical departments in all of sports for her upcoming assignment.
Who is Marissa Figueroa?
Marissa Figureoa is not a new face to the Buffalo Bills. She has been a crucial intern for the Bills training department since 2021.
Figueroa has accumulated quite the portfolio throughout the course of her burgeoning career.
She first made the training table her preferred surface as a kinesiology major at Humboldt State.
Later, when she pursued a master’s degree in athletic training, she put her knowledge to use at California Baptist, wrapping ankles and treating bruises.
Due to Figueroa’s skill set, the Chargers decided to hire her as an intern in 2018. After a successful career in the professional game, she went back to school and offered her services as the athletic trainer for the UC Davis football and women’s lacrosse teams.
It was clear that Figueroa was rising to the top. The Bills made sure to hire her as an intern in sports training before the 2021 season.
The young star kept having a good time while helping Tre’Davious White recuperate from an ACL injury.
30 year old Figueroa grew more powerful in the roughly one year that followed White’s injury. She was one of a group of Bills trainers honoured for their assistance in preserving Damar Hamlin’s life when the safety fell in Week 16 of the season.
She now enjoys full-time recognition. Figueroa joins a group of medical experts that already includes head athletic trainer Nate Breske, assistant athletic trainers Denny Kellington and Tabani Richards, and physical therapist/rehabilitation coordinator Joe Micca.
