Prior to Thursday night’s MLB game at Dodger Stadium, the Venezuelan baseball player and his longtime girlfriend were married in a spur-of-the-moment wedding.
Who is Maria Laborde?
Acua is wed to Instagram model Maria Laborde, who claims to be a “public figure” on the platform and has 104,000 followers.
The 23-year-old, a native of Valencia, won Miss Teen Carabobo in 2015. In January 2023, the two got engaged. They first met about four years ago. A touching video captures all of their loved ones applauding as he proposed to her as he was on one knee during a family dinner.
How many children do the couple have?
Together, they are parents to Ronald Daniel, age 2, and Jamall, age 11 months, their two children. Maria and the kids were scheduled to return to Venezuela at the end of the week because her visa only permitted her to stay with the athlete for three months at a stretch.
They made the decision to be married because they knew their family wouldn’t be able to return for a while, missing the remainder of the baseball season.
Acuña told ESPN:

He further stated:
The kids were born here, but their mom needs to come and go. I don’t like that process. It’s really a hassle.”
“If we go to the playoffs, if we go to the World Series, and they’re not with me, it’s tough. I want my family to be here with me.”
“We’re a family. Since we’ve known each other, we’ve wanted to be together. We have two kids. Family is meant to be together. That comes before anything else. I’m really happy that’s going to happen now.”
