According to an airline statement, Fly91 has obtained this accreditation, meaning that it has fulfilled all regulatory and compliance standards and may now begin its commercial operations.
Manoj Chacko, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fly91, expressed anticipation for the commencement of ticket sales and the imminent launch of commercial operations.
The airline has received its first set of routes under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) regional connectivity initiative of the government. As part of the civil aviation ministry’s UDAN 5.0, these routes link Bangalore, Goa, Hyderabad, Pune, and Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Nanded, and Agatti.

At the moment, Fly91 has two ATR 72-600 aircraft in its fleet, which it leased from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise back in January. Under the code ‘IC,’ the airline seeks to increase air connectivity, specifically focusing on the growing demand in tier-2 and tier-3 locations. Notably, it is the first Indian airline to establish Goa’s Manohar International Airport as its home base.
Fly91 aims to improve last-mile connectivity by adding 50 Indian cities to its network as part of a five-year strategic strategy. The airline intends to add 30 more aircraft to its fleet, placing them at various hubs around the nation.

Who is Manoj Chacko?
Manoj Chacko is a renowned Indian business leader. He has been in the news because his startup airline, Fly91, formally got an air operator’s certificate from DGCA.
He was born and brought up in Mumbai, Maharashtra. After completing his elementary education, he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Government Engineering College, Goa. Subsequently, he went on to join Goa University, where he did a Master in Management Studies with majors in marketing and finance.
His career
Manoj Chacko started his illustrious career in the aviation and travel industry as Sales Manager at Emirates Airlines, spanning multiple locations for 3 years and 6 months. After that, he moved to Mumbai to work for Kingfisher Airlines as the Head of Sales, Revenue Management, Distribution, and Network Planning.
Following that, Manoj started working as a Vice President and Country Head for Global Business Travel at American Express in Mumbai. After returning to Kingfisher Airlines Limited, he worked there from December 2009 to September 2012 as the Executive Vice President-Commercial.
Manoj Chacko ventured into business and held the positions of CEO and Managing Partner at Smartripp Aviation Solutions and Travel Services. Subsequently, he worked as Chief Executive Officer of Business Travel at SOTC Travel Ltd. (previously Kuoni) and Chief Operating Officer of Business Travel at Kuoni.
He continued his career as a leader while holding the position of Executive Vice President at Mumbai, India’s WNS Global Services. Currently serving as Fly91.in’s CEO since January 2023, Manoj Chacko uses his vast industry expertise to further propel the airline’s growth in India.
