Bihar IB officer Manish Ranjan killed in Pahalgam terror attack
An Indian IB officer named Manish Ranjan, who originally hails from Rohtas district in Bihar, was recently killed by terrorists while out on a vacation in Pahalgam with his wife and two children. As terrorists opened fire in the peaceful Baisaran meadows, Manish prioritized saving his wife and kids, urging them to run in the opposite direction and escape the ambush.
Despite managing to save them, he was seemingly gunned down in front of them. Following the incident, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his condolences, calling the entire incident “deeply saddening and condemnable.” He also extended his sympathies towards the bereaved families while urging unity against terrorism.

Manish Ranjan was an Indian IB officer who hailed from the Aruhin village under the Kargahar police station in Rohtas, Bihar. He belonged to a family rooted in education and service. His grandfather, Paras Mishra, had been a schoolteacher in Jhalda, West Bengal. Meanwhile, his father, Mangleshwar Kumar Mishra, also worked as a teacher. Although his exact age is not confirmed, Manish was likely in his late thirties to early forties during the time of his death.

Manish Ranjan was serving as a section officer with the Intelligence Bureau in Hyderabad at the time of his death. He was last posted in Hyderabad, and his colleagues recall him as a diligent and hardworking man.

Manish Ranjan was married to his wife Jaya Mishra, and the couple had two children together. They were a close-knit family and were out enjoying a family trip to Kashmir during the time of the attack.
Pahalgam Terror attack
Just recently, a shocking and tragic terror attack occurred on Tuesday around 1:30 PM in Baisaran, Pahalgam. The attack at the high-altitude tourist destination killed 26 people, including locals, tourists, and foreign nationals. Following the tragedy, armed militants from The Resistance Front (TRF), a Lashkar-e-Taiba affiliate, took responsibility for the attack. The group opened fire on tourists before going around asking for names and executing their victims.
