The height of the 16 year old isn’t known. His mom is named Emma and he is of Jamaican descent, having been born in England.

Braithwaite is described as a powerful, athletic defender, comfortable in the centre, on the left and in midfield and has been at City since the under-9 level.

He is also vice-captain of the U-18s, which includes players like Reigan Heskey, son of Emile Heskey. Braithwaite even scored for England’s U-17s in a 3-1 win over Germany.

Nevertheless, his versatility in playing both left-back and center-back, as well as his athletic, composed style, likely fast-tracked his senior debut.

A regular In the U-18 squad and also part of England’s U-17 setup, Braithwaite has proven himself at various positions across defense and midfield. He became the third-youngest player to represent Manchester City after Glyn Pardoe in 1962 and Paul Simpson in 1982.

Despite not being part of the summer academy contingent that trained with Guardiola, Braithwaite’s ability to play multiple positions may have helped him leapfrog more senior youth players like Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, Lakyle Samuel, and Stephen Mfuni to earn his debut.

Braithwaite’s debut in the EFL Cup was notable not only for his age but also his impressive performance.

He completed 63 of 66 passes (95%), lost possession just four times in 77 touches, and won two out of three ground duels, including a successful tackle.
