According to Sky Sports, the Glasgow-based club are currently holding interviews for the role in London this week. Following which they will then present their decision to the Rangers board.
Rangers sack Michael Beale
Scottish professional club Rangers FC sacked Michael Beale on 2 October 2023 after finding themselves behind Celtic on seven points. Rangers sacked the 43-year-old following a disappointing 3-1 home defeat against Aberdeen. Beale joined the club back November 2022 as a replacement for Giovanni van Bronckhors despite having very little managerial experience.
Michael Beale possible replacements
As of now, Rangers midfielder Steven Davis, has taken up the new role as the first-team coach. In fact, the 38-year-old still hasn’t hanged up his boots and is out on an injury. It will however, give the Northern Irishman a chance to get into coaching. However, Rangers are still looking for a more experienced candidate for the new role.
Some of the top candidates to replace Michael Beale include former Chelsea and Everton manager, Frank Lampard. Ex-Rangers player Kevin Muscat is also as potential successors for Beale. Meanwhile, another top favorite includes Graham Potter. However, according to Sky Sports, Lampard and Potter are no longer under consideration. They have also ruled out Billy Davies, Ryan Lowe, Pascal Jansen, John Eustace and Scott Parker. Instead, the popular news and media outlet have stated Muscat and Philippe Clement as the two most prominent figures to take up the role.

Philippe Clement is a Belgian professional football coach and former player who was born on 22 March 1974, in Antwerp, Belgium. During his career as a footballer, he played as a defender. His most recent managerial stint was at AS Monaco and he is now the top favorite to take up the new role at Rangers.

Philippe Clement managerial career
After playing for a decade at Club Brugge, Clement spent his initial post-retirement years working for the club. He first worked as a scout as well as an assistant manager at the same time. Clement eventually spent two short stints as caretaker boss for the club before leaving in 2017. He left to join Waasland-Beveren, his first official managerial job.
During his six months at the club, Philippe guided the team to nine wins from 22 games, which peaked Belgian giants Genk’s interest. The club soon appointed him as their boss and helped the side win the 2018/19 title. The following season, he won the Pro League title again, securing back-to-back title wins.
After two successful seasons there, he joined the Monaco as their new head coach in January 2022. The 49-year-old however, did not have the best time there and soon got sacked in June 2023. The Ligue 1 team sacked him after 18 months in charge, and finishing only in sixth place.
Philippe Clement managerial record
Given below is Philippe Clement’s managerial record so far:

Philippe Clement philosophy and tactics
In general, Philippe Clement prefers possession based sides and drag the opposing teams forward by building-up from the back line. Drawing the press forwards creates space in behind, which allow his quick attackers to exploit. While this tactics prove effective, it comes with plenty of risks, but for Philippe, the higher the risk, the higher the reward. Since Rangers are a club that generally enjoy possession in most of their domestic matches, the Belgian manager seems to be a good fit at Ibrox.
Clement earned two million euros per season as AS Monaco coach.
Avg. term as coach : 1.05 Years ; Preferred formation : 4-4-2 double 6 ; Date of Birth: Mar 22, 1974 ; Place of Birth: Antwerpen Belgium
Notable players managed
Throughout his career, Philippe Clement has managed some of the biggest players like current Chelsea centre-back duo – Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashille. He has also managed Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni as well as Arsenal star Leandro Trossard at Genk. Another top player he managed is Scotland international Jack Hendry at Club Brugge.
Clement and Rangers
Rangers and Clement certainly seem to be a good fit, as his offensive plays could be a breath of fresh air to Beale’s recent tactics. Clement definitely has a winning mentality but Rangers have competition to sign him from the Middle East. Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab are reportedly offering him a three-year contract alongside a ‘golden package’. It remains to be seen whether the 49-year-old will accept the offer or stay in Europe.
