According to reports, reigning Premier League champions Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with Palmeiras to secure the signature of their star defender, Vitor Reis. The agreed fee for the 19-year-old is reported to be under €40 million (£34m/$41m). City are keen to finalize the deal swiftly, aiming for Reis to join Pep Guardiola’s squad without delay.
An initial fee of €35million (£29.5m, $35.8m) has been agreed and bonuses would also be included as part of the deal. The 19-year-old is set to travel to the UK today to undergo a medical.

Reis quickly made a name for himself, establishing himself as a key figure in the Palmeiras youth teams. He often captained the sides he played for and played a pivotal role in the final of the 2022 Copa do Brasil Sub-17. However, his performance in the final was marred by a serious incident when he collided with a Vasco da Gama player, suffering a concussion that required him to be hospitalized after briefly losing consciousness on the pitch.

Following the incident, Reis took to social media to reassure fans, stating that he was doing well. Towards the end of the 2022 season, he signed his first professional contract with Palmeiras, committing to the club through 2025. In October 2023, Reis received international recognition when English newspaper The Guardian named him one of the best players born in 2006 worldwide, alongside former Palmeiras teammates Endrick and Luis Guilherme.
On January 14, 2025, it was reported that Manchester City had reached an agreement with Palmeiras to sign the highly sought-after central defender in a deal valued at £29.4 million. Reis has represented Brazil at the under-16 level, showcasing his skills at the 2022 Montaigu Tournament.
