Shohei Ohtani reveals wife’s identity
Ohtani recently revealed the identity of his wife in an Instagram story by posting a group photo of him and his teammate Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The photo shows Ohtani standing next to Mamiko Tanaka in front of an airplane. He captioned the photo, “Can’t wait!”, along with an emoji of the South Korean flag. The group was on their way to Seoul for the MLB’s season opener, set to take place next week. The Dodgers also posted pictures on their X account featuring a couple shots of Ohtani and Tanaka alongside his teammate Mookie Betts and his wife. Upon reaching Korea at the Incheon International Airport, a wave of fans greeted Ohtani and his teammates and their families. Ohtani was spotted wearing a black training suit and cap, waving at fans and cameras as security personnel escorted him. Tanaka, who was also dressed in a black outfit, followed him closely behind.
Earlier this year, in February, Ohtani made his marriage announcement through an Instagram post, stating:
Not only have I began a new chapter in my career with the Dodgers but I also have began a new life with someone from my Native country of Japan who is very special to me and I wanted everyone to know I am now married. I don’t really feel comfortable talking about when I got married exactly.”

Mamiko Tanaka is the wife of MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani. She is currently 27 years old and stands at a height of 5’11”. Notably, Tanaka is a former professional basketball player who played as a forward for the Fujitsu Red Wave. During her time as a player, she competed in the Women’s Japan Basketball League from 2019 to 2023.
According to ESPN, Mamiko had a shooting rate of 47.7% from the field and 69.9% from the free throw line during her last season, where she played across 28 games. She has also represented Japan in the U16 and U18 Asia championships before going on to play in the U17 world championship between 2011 and 2014.
